Saving Sophie, the thrilling sequel to Ronald Balson’s international bestseller, Once We Were Brothers, reunites the team of Chicago private investigator Liam Taggart and attorney Catherine Lockhart.  This time they are hired to find Jack Sommers, a Jewish attorney, who has disappeared with $88 million of his client’s money.  We learn that Sommers has tragically lost his wife Alina to a sudden illness and that his father-in-law, Dr. Arif-al-Zahani, has kidnapped Sommers’ six-year-old daughter. Al-Zahani, a suspected Palestinian terrorist and part of the violent Sons of Canaan cell, resides in an impenetrable compound in the violent and dangerous West Bank city of Hebron. It is there he keeps Sophie and tries to turn her against her father and her American way of life.  With the help of Israeli operative Kayla Cummings, Liam and Catherine strive to rescue Sophie and prevent an imminent terrorist attack.

“Balson succeeds in illuminating the personal side of the Middle Eastern conflict through his deeply human, psychologically credible characters.” Publisher’s Weekly

“The fast-paced intrigue and plot twists seize the reader from the engrossing opening to the stirring ending.” Jewish Book Council.

“With its well-handled, vividly painted settings in and around Jerusalem and Hebron, Hawaii, and Chicago, Saving Sophie will keep readers engaged from first to last. And educated, too.”  Washington Independent Review of Books

“Best Jewish Books of 2015”  Jewish Reads

Ronald Balson is definitely an author that I idolize. I believe that he is a generational talent, and one that we cannot hope to lose. If we can support him in any way that we can, then that is what we should be doing. All of the books that he wrote should be best sellers. I think that he can be the next big thing, but he currently lacks in marketing. He needs to market his books a lot better.
